The 24th SF Int'l Asian American Film Festival

This past weekend I decided to forgo my usual Asian clubbing scene and partake in supporting my brethren in their endeavor to introduce more Asian films/actors into mainstream America. Do you remember those rubber wristbands that people wore to support cancer, well they were distributing bracelets with "I love Asian films" engraved in it. Maybe you'll see me wear it one day... NOT!
Nearly a year has passed since I last watched a film in the movie theatre, most likely due to the staggering price increase over the years and the lack of movie watching partners (what happened to the good ol $3.75 movies?!). I decided to spend the staggering $10 to attend a sold out viewing of a South Korean film - Rules of Dating based primarily on the catch phrase, "Two high school teachers decide to make sex, not romance, the basis of their relationship...". Surprisingly, although there were some pretty graphic lovemaking scenes involved, this romantic comedy was actually a lot darker then expected with some bizarre twists.
Interesting enough, my strongest recollection of the film was not of the sex but of all the food they ate! At least a third of the movie consisted of the main characters getting inebriated off tons of soju and consuming all types of tasty looking Korean dishes (that first, then waking up naked in bed together with no recollection of the night). Note to self: Always eat prior to watching movies to prevent the predicament of salivation during viewing.

Ooooh, I love pan chans. A little advice: unless you're going to a Korean Club that evening, don't eat Korean food. Not every lady appreciates kim chee breath. ;P
